info :

LOUISA LOVE is a contemporary artist exploring ideas of materiality, objectness and production through a multilayered practice encompassing sculpture, installation, video, writing, research and collaborative/curatorial activity. She is interested in the nature of the artistic process and the multiple ways in which knowledge is produced, exchanged and negotiated creatively. In particular, through exploring the complex, mutable connections between making, thinking and presenting, her work investigates a narrative relationship between the artist and the archive.

Through a process which oscillates between sculptural object making, collection, performance and documentation, Louisa investigates these interests in the language of how the archive is experienced and embodied through experimental works which simultaneously produce, record, remedy and further complicate a conflicted personal relationship to knowledge, material and space. Often treating the exhibition as a medium rather than an endpoint, they regularly attempt to confront if not collapse tensions or distinctions between the space of production
and the space of consumption.

Current work also takes an interest in collaborative and socially engaged practices whereby research and production are explored through dialogue and activity such as organisation, curation, writing, thinking and communicating.

Louisa's research focuses in particular on archival theory, 'thing theory', and issues of labour and production.
